The commemoration of the first anniversary of earthquake disaster was held on Sunday morning, May 27, 2007 at Trirenggo Square, Bantul. It was attended by 5000 people, they began arriving at the square at 03.00 am. The ceremony started with pre-dawn prayer, led by imam KH Nawawi Abdul Aziz.

This ceremony also attended by Bantul chief administrator Drs HM Idham Samawi, Govt of Bantul civil servants, Bantul House of Representative, and head of local police departement. Governor of Yogyakarta Special Province Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X came later at 05.15 am.

Then Sultan HB X signed on memorial of the first anniversary earthquake disaster and MoU of earthquake disaster mangement among 5 local government in Yogyakarta Special Province, those are Bantul, Sleman, Kulon Progo, Gunung Kidul and Yogyakarta City.

At 05.57 am, sirines were sounded a minute also all vehicles around the field turned on the alarm to mark the moment when the 5.9-magnitude earthquake that devastated the area last year.
